The John Butler Centre is a 3000sqm commercial building located at the start of the shopping strip in Kerikeri, Northland. The building houses the Far North District Council, as well as various other retailers and commercial organizations.
The building is configured to act as a gateway to Kerikeri. Large overhangs respond to the sub-tropical Northland climate and provides shelter to the retail level. While strongly commercial, the forms of the building are more flamboyant than is possible in tighter urban situations.
