Block 1

Leuschke Group Architects together with landscape architects, Baxter Design were tasked with master planning the entire village, producing various iterations until settling on the final design now under construction. The design intent was clear. A variety of building typologies were to be incorporated into the station catering to a range of users from permanent residents to short stay visitors.

The challenge was to create a framework that would encourage a unique alpine feeling. Design Guidelines were set up to limit materials, colours, and forms. All building typologies are to reference the history of the Cardrona Valley and the historic buildings of the area.

Block 6

Planning incorporated a range of neighbourhoods taking advantage of the existing land form to maximise extensive views north towards Wanaka, east to Mt Pisa and the Criffel Range and west to Mt Cardrona and associated peaks.
